On Monday, state officials released an image of that menu, provided to The Post by Hawaii News Now, and it shed some light on why it might be #confusing.source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/01/16/that-was-no-wrong-button-in-hawaii-take-a-look/
Since May, experts have been painstakingly analyzing the 55 machine-versus-machine games. And their descriptions of #AlphaGo’s moves often seem to keep circling back to the same several words: Amazing. Strange. #Alien. We are on the threshold of the technological #singularity.
- Both terms refer to essentially the same set of licenses and software, and
- Each term implies different underlying values.
The closest to a neutral term would be #FOSS (free and open source software) or #FLOSS (free/libre/open source software), which have had limited success fulfilling that value-neutral role. Perhaps the existence of two such terms (with and without "L") may have diluted and thus diminished the ability of either to break out as a broadly used term.
“The problem is, the RSA private key that belongs to the public pair that was used for the signature checking, could be found on the internet as part of an example application of a software library,” according to his research. If I understand this right then the newbie #developer found some cool code on the #Internet and copied it, without understanding what a private key really is - #WTF?!
The Israeli officials who had hacked into Kaspersky’s own network alerted the United States to the broad Russian intrusion, which has not been previously reported, leading to a decision just last month to order #Kaspersky #software removed from #government computers....
But experts on #Russia say that under President Vladimir V. #Putin, a former #KGB. officer, businesses asked for assistance by Russian #spy agencies may feel they have no choice but to give it.WTF?! - I know that #Trump's U.S. has a #NSA, who does the same and all is called national #security! -> U.S. Agencies Said to Swap Data With Thousands of Firms - source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-06-14/u-s-agencies-said-to-swap-data-with-thousands-of-firms
Huh…well that’s odd. Even though that cell was quoted it seems to have been interpreted as a formula just because the first character was an = symbol. In fact - in Excel at least - any of the symbols =, -, +, or @ will trigger this behavior causing lots of fun times for adminstrators whose data just doesn’t seem to format correctly (this is actually what brought my attention first to the issue). That’s strange, but not downright dangerous, right?#fail #danger #warning #security #software #data #hack
More and more, critical systems that were once controlled mechanically, or by people, are coming to depend on #code. This was perhaps never clearer than in the summer of 2015, when on a single day, United Airlines grounded its fleet because of a problem with its departure-management system; trading was suspended on the New York Stock Exchange after an upgrade; the front page of The Wall Street Journal’s website crashed; and Seattle’s 911 system went down again, this time because a different router failed. The simultaneous failure of so many software systems smelled at first of a coordinated #cyberattack. Almost more frightening was the realization, late in the day, that it was just a coincidence.#security #future #IT #itnews #problem #developer #source #infrastucture #hacker
