#Yazidis who suffered #genocide are fleeing again, but this time not from the Islamic State

Relatives collapsed in grief as the coffin of an 18-year-old Yazidi fighter was carried to a small temple at the base of Mount Sinjar.

Salam Mukhaibir’s death this month, along with four other Yazidi fighters, marked the latest dark turn for an Iraqi minority sect that has suffered genocide at the hands of the Islamic State.

But the men were not killed fighting the militants. They died in clashes with Kurdish peshmerga forces when long-simmering rivalries erupted.

#Turkey says 'No' to saying 'No', ahead of its #referendum

A common expression typically used by conservatives is "hayirli cuma", wishing a blessed Friday. But as "hayir" also means no, some are now preferring "cuma mubarek", an alternative blessing (with the same meaning). Beyond the almost Kafkaesque disappearance of the word "no", some are feeling the impact of trying to say it.
A group campaigning for a "no" vote in the Istanbul district of Kadikoy was attacked by police. An online video shows policemen pulling a gun and using pepper spray on protesters. Turkey's leading newspaper, Hurriyet - which has become increasingly pro-government - cancelled an interview with the Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk after he said he would vote "no" in the referendum. And TV presenter Irfan Degirmenci was fired from presenting his breakfast show after tweets supporting a "no" vote. The programme is shown on Kanal D, whic... mehr anzeigen

Being Punk in Turkey

In the second half of the 1970's, Punk was an expression of rage in Europe and the U.S., while in Turkey, rage found its outlet in the form of street clashes, strikes and revolutionary rehearsals. In Turkey, it wasn't yet the "time" for "listening to music." The "traditional" military coup d'état of 12 September 1980 was accompanied by torture, dungeons, executions, exile, prohibitions, censorship and anti-democratic legislation. The regime of 12 September did a fine job of "shutting up" and "putting a lid" on the opposition, especially the Left, leaving behind a legacy of systematic apoliticization and dehumanization, whereby it succeeded in assimilating all segments of society, including universities and artistic communities. It was the age of "Uncle Özal," "striking it rich," "video cassettes," and "arabesque."

#atom #weapon #macht #türkei #cheap #saudi #arab #oil #syria #turkey #is #terror #merkel #deutschland #germanyhttps://netzfrauen.org/2017/02/24/atombomben/

Deutschland plant radikale Abschottung gegen Migranten
