Trump Now Taking Credit for Things that Had Nothing to Do With Him

I guess desperate times call for desperate levels of lying:

“Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation,” President Trump said in a tweet on Tuesday. “Good news - it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!”

and of course:

"The safety record is “the culmination of decades of work by thousands of people,” industry consultant John Cox, a former airline captain and accident investigator, told The Wall Street Journal. According to The Atlantic, “The president’s claim can’t withstand even slight scrutiny…. Changes in statistics like air safety are achieved over long time scales, and given the small number of crashes involved, minor deviations in the number are unlikely attributable to any specific presidential action—especially one taken in the just under a year Trump has been in office.”"

Why Would Anyone Intentionally Ditch An Aircraft?

Apparently for the #insurance #money. However in this case they got caught for ditching the #Beechcraft Baron, mostly because they got greedy and committed multiple acts of insurance fraud, including setting fire to a #Cessna Citation, crashing a #Lamborghini car and sinking a #boat. Looks like the team is heading to #jail.

Dumb And Dumber - AVweb Insider Article

The system works, even for idiots.

Trump's Budget Includes ATC Privatization

"President Donald Trump’s new budget includes privatization of air traffic control. The document tabled Thursday in Washington contains an outright endorsement of privatization as a move that “would benefit the flying public and taxpayers overall.” The airline industry has been lobbying non stop since Trump’s election for the formation of a non-profit corporation to run the national airspace system controlled by a board of directors dominated by airline representatives. Most general aviation groups have vigorously opposed privatization, saying it would amount to handing the nation’s airspace over to the airlines, something the airlines themselves have suggested is accurate."

This is really no surprise, it is a standard thing to expect from a fiscal conservative who believes that private industry can do anything better than government.

A Million Drones For Christmas??

This should worry a lot of people: "As many as a million new toy drones could be given as Christmas gifts this year, an FAA official said at an Airlines for America event in Washington, D.C., on Monday. Rich Swayze, an assistant administrator for policy, said he heard the one-million figure from “several sources” that are studying the impact of drones."

Does The FBI Have A Fleet Of Surveillance Cessnas? - AVweb flash Article

Evidence suggests the FBI operates a sizeable fleet of single engine Cessnas that it doesn t want the rest of us to know about and it s not talking about the purpose of the aircraft. In an investigative report in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune, the paper was able to identify a Cessna 182T that spent hours circling several prominent locations in the city at night thanks to an observant tipster with a live flight tracker app on his phone.
