Anyway, I don't believe in progress, it's just an idea and specifically a western idea.

Only progress without context, without mentioning a direction. In any culture people can have a goal and make progress towards this goal.
But assuming some sort of ultimate goal that is known by everyone and therefore does not have to be mentioned, seems a specific characteristic of western societies.
Of course, but the western idea of progress is to reach in some future of “gold age” where all our problems has been solved by science, but there is nothing to guarantee this. Nothing get better just because the time goes. Maybe, we haven’t got contact with aliens because they have no the idea of technological progress like western societies expect.
It seems to me that we have simply shrunk the word "progress" to mean "technological novelties". Whereas the original meaning of "progress" is to improve something (here, our way of life, comfort, happiness, it is actually hard to give an exact definition). But some technological novelties certainly can worsen our way of live, not improve it, while others can. Whether the carving of stones or the mastering of fire were some "progress" in the history of mankind is also highly subjective. Not even mentioning the discovery of nuclear fission and/or fusion. :)

No, it isn't. Progress means change with a given direction. That is not necessarily an improvement. You can also make progress in the destruction of the world.
Exactly!! But where that direction goes? Because the western idea of the time is going forward, but that idea came from Christianity and there is no evidence that idea is actually a fact, now we believe such thing as Time exist because the things changes, but its just our perception. Personally I believe that time doesn't exist (At least not like we think) So, this fantasy of tech progress is just for make more money, not for humankind improvement.
As per "the free dictionary":
prog·ress (prŏg′rĕs′, -rəs, prō′grĕs′)
n.
1. Forward or onward movement, as toward a destination: We made little progress on our way home because of the traffic.
2. Development, advancement, or improvement, as toward a goal: The math students have shown great progress.
3. A ceremonial journey made by a sovereign through his or her realm.
intr.v. pro·gress (prə-grĕs′) pro·gressed, pro·gress·ing, pro·gress·es
1. To move forward or onward: The ship progressed toward the equator.
2. To develop, advance, or improve: Research progressed on the new vaccine.
3. To increase in scope or severity, as a disease taking an unfavorable course.

So while progress may mean "movement", it also means "improvement", which is generally the one that is referred to when pointing at technology and that we have somewhat forgotten.
